“It’s a Barnum and Bailey world
Just as phony as it can be
But it wouldn’t be make-believe
If you believed in me” – (It’s only a) Paper Moon
14 JAN 2018 – The TXLEGE special session ended on 15 AUG. That weekend, I stopped in at a McDonalds to get a cup of coffee. Overhead, I hear music, the familiar strains of “Paper Moon,” a Nat King Cole favorite of mine.
I laughed, thinking, “Ya know, that’d be a damn fine theme song for the re-election campaigns.”
Limiting the Growth of Local Property Taxes was One Agenda Item in Abbott’s Special session
We were told this was a top priority. We’d hoped to see lion tamers. Instead, we got the clowns.
So, now what? What do we do?
What next steps could we take to Eliminate Property Tax in the next session? I’ve been thinking about this since the special session ended. Here’s what I’ve decided.
First and foremost, we all have to step up. We all have to do something. Anything is better than nothing.
I think it’s interesting that P.T. Barnum said, “Without promotion, something terrible happens… NOTHING.”
We cannot expect a different outcome next session if we continue living passive, meek lives as victims while our statists handlers continue to rape, rob and plunder us.
We can stop them. But we have to take action. Together. And I mean right now. Not when the next session starts.
Over the next several days, I’ll post the next steps that I’ve identified we can take. But it’ll be in small chunks, easy for us to read and reflect upon.
No Relief. No Reform. #EliminatePropertyTax
